Lavender Cream Cleanser

This gentle cleansing formula features The Herbarie’s SCI 85% Flake, SMC Taurate, Polyfactant DLS, and Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate (SSL). PEG 7 Glyceryl Cocoate functions as an emollient along with Cetyl Alcohol and Behenyl Alcohol. This formula is similar to a formula called Ginger’s Gentle Cleanser that was developed by a friend of mine, Pam Ingle. This formula contains less foaming surfactant and is suitable for a facial cleanser or gentle cleanser for sensitive skin. The finished product will be a “butter” consistency, suitable for packaging in a jar.

Ingredient Part A SCI 85% Flake SMC Taurate Polyfactant DLS PEG 7 Glyceryl Cocoate SSL Cetyl Alcohol Behenyl Alcohol Glyceryl Stearate PEG 150 Distearate Glycerin Hydrolyzed Oats-Cromoist O-25 Distilled Water Part B Lavender Essential Oil Liquid Germall Plus

Amount 20.0% = 100 grams 20.0% = 100 grams 10.0% = 50 grams 5.0% = 25 grams 5.0% = 25 grams 2.0% = 10 grams 2.0% = 10 grams 2.0% = 10 grams 1.0% = 5 grams 5.0% = 25 grams 2.0% = 10 grams 24.5% = 122.5 grams 1.0% = 5 grams 0.5% = 2.5 grams

Procedures: Combine ingredients in Part A and heat until completely melted—approximately 170F – do not scorch! A double boiler or hot water bath may be helpful. Once part A is completely melted, begin cool-down. When temperature is 120F or less, add part B with mixing. Finished product will be thick and creamy and can be packaged in jars.

Notes:

• For more foaming activity/firm product - increase SCI 85% Flake to 30%, decrease SMC Taurate to 10%.
• For more foaming activity/less firm product - increase SCI 85% Flake to 30%, decrease fatty alcohols to total 1%, decrease Glyceryl Stearate to 1%, increase distilled water – adjust total formula to 100%.
