Japanese Honeysuckle contains antiviral and antibacterial components and has a multitude of uses. One source reports 27 and 30 monoterpenoids and sesquiterpenoids were identified from the essential oil of the dry flower and fresh flower respectively. The major constituents have been found to be linalool, geraniol, aromadendrene and eugenol etc. The leaves contain tannins as well. For external use only.
