Big Bubbles Shampoo

Everyone wants big bubbles! Naturally derived Sodium Coco-Sulfate and Plantapon LGC Sorb give this mild shampoo excellent foam characteristics. SoluSilk SF and dl Panthenol help hair to retain moisture and resist damage from environmental stress. CocoEm WS provides ease in wet-combing and adds shine. Since Sodium Coco-Sulfate is alkaline, we recommend adding citric acid to the finished shampoo to reduce the pH to approximately 5.5.

Ingredient Sodium Coco-Sulfate Plantapon LGC Sorb CocoEm WS dl Panthenol Glycerin Distilled Water (Add to mix at 120F or less) SoluSilk Optiphen ND EO/FO optional Glucamate LT Citric Acid (as needed) Total

Amount 10% = 50 grams 15% = 75 grams 1.0% = 5 grams 1.0% = 5 grams 3.0% = 15 grams 3.0% = 15 grams 62.2% = 311 grams 3.0% = 15 grams 0.8% = 4 grams 1.0% = 5 grams     100.0% = 500 grams

-Heat water to boiling point.
Remove from heat, add Sodium Coco Sulfate, stir and cover until completely melted/dissolved. It’s very important that all the solids are completely dissolved/melted.
-Adjust pH to 5.5 with citric acid.
-Add Plantapon LGC Sorb, CocoEm WS, dl panthenol, glycerin and stir until incorporated.
-Once the mixture has cooled to 120F or less, add the remainder of the ingredients. Add Glucamate LT last to thicken – a bit more or less can be used to adjust desired thickness.

Tips for shampoo/body wash:
-pay attention to pH of finished product and make sure it is around 5.5
-pH can increase viscosity -fragrance oils WILL effect the formulation
-essential oils that seem to be most compatible with shampoo/body wash: geranium, peppermint, lavender, rosemary.
